Here is a series of photos to show the installation sequence of a recent job. You can see the removal of the existing hood, and a careful eye will notice several key elements that were missing from the original installation. You can see there was no ice & water shield under the copper to protect against condensation. The panels were lapped over each other with a seam cap nailed throught the face of the hood, rather than a one inch vertical rib enclosed by a seam cap. (The caps are then fastened to the ribs by crimping them) The bottom of each panel should wrap around and be crimped to a style "T" drip edge to secure against wind lift.
